KY Special Olympics

The Special Olympics Kentucky State Golf Tournament was held on Sunday at Lindsey Golf Course on Fort Knox for the second year in a row. When the event teed off on Sunday, August 26, there were 86 golfers Of those golfers, 70 competed in the Unified Sports 9-hole alternate shot competition, which pairs a Special Olympics athlete with a non-disabled golfer. Thirteen athletes competed in the skills competition and three competed in individual 9-hole stroke play. Even though I don't know to much about golf, I had a great time keeping score for a unified team learning about golf and getting to know others within the community.

KY State Fair

August 16-26, 2007 was the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville at Kentucky Kingdom/ 6 Flags over KY. Throughout the week of the fair were free concerts bringing out the best in pop, soul, rock, country and Christian music in Cardinal Stadium. Artist like Alice Cooper, Oak Ridge Boys, Gary Allen, Black Shelton, and Tracy Lawerence were all there. All that had to be paid was entering the fairgrounds and parking. I went Monday, August 20th to see MercyMe opened up by Tree63.
I also went Friday, August 24 Switchfoot opened by special guest Emerson Hart. On Monday night I went alone, but on Friday night I went with a couple of co-workers. We had a great time doing the Friday night thing... going out to eat and unwinding from work and then going to enjoy a concert.
Overall, a nice experience.

Otter Creek

This past weekend I took a camping trip out at Otter Creek. I packed up my tent, sleeping bags, and some food to eat. It was a nice break away from the every day "business as usual."
It was a great opportunity to see and experience the great outdoors. It was also an opportunity to enjoy a hobby of mine (taking pictures) as well as read (which is becoming an enjoyable escape/ stress releaver).
I also took the opportunity to go back onto Ft Knox and watch the girls fast pitch softball tournament. Here are a few pictures from it.

Gold Vault

The United States Bullion Depository is a fortified vault building located near Fort Knox, Kentucky which is used to store a large portion of United States official gold reserves, as well as from time to time, other precious items belonging to, or entrusted to, the United States of America. The United States Bullion Depository holds approximately 4,570 tons of gold bullion (147.3 million ounces [1]). This is exceeded in the United States only by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's underground vault in Manhattan, which holds approximately 5,000 tons of gold in trust for many foreign nations, central banks and official international organizations. Conspiracy theory A popular and recurring conspiracy theory, as alleged by Edward Durrell, Tom Valentine, Peter Beter and others, claims that the vault is mostly empty and that most of the gold in Fort Knox was removed to London in the late 1960s by President Lyndon Johnson. [2] In response, on September 23, 1974, Senator Walter Huddleston of Kentucky, twelve congressmen, and about one hundred members of the news media toured the vault. They opened a cell door which had been sealed with seven seals since it was first delivered there, over 30 years earlier. This revealed a room filled with gold, approximately 36,000 bars weighing over 11 million troy ounces. Radio reporter Bill Evans, when asked if it seemed like the gold might have been moved in just for the visit, replied that "all I can say is that I saw gold there" and that it seemed like it was always there.[3] Additionally, audits of the gold by the General Accounting Office (in cooperation with the United States Mint and the United States Customs Service in 1974 and the Treasury Department) from 1975-1981 found no discrepancies between the reported and actual amounts of gold at the Depository. [4]. However, the audit has been described as a peculiar process because it was only a partial audit done over an extended period of time.[5] The report states only 21% of the gold bars were audited as of 1981 (the audit report's issue date) and that the audit has "covered more than 212.7 million fine troy ounces of gold" which "represents over 80% of the total amount of United States-owned gold of 264.1 million fine troy ounces." [4] . A small amount of gold is removed for regularly scheduled audits to ensure the purity matches official records. [1] The theory continues to persist, however. In 2007, KPMG will carry out an independent audit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Bullion_Depository

Mom's at it Again!

Yes, you read right. My mom is at it again. I guess politics & working in the government is really in her blood. House of Representatives, State Senate, Workers Comp Judge, Congressman Brown's office, and I'm sure the list could go on. My mom was the nation's youngest lawmaker when she was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 1970 and now plans to make more history by running for the House of Representatives again. Good luck mom! For those who may want to check out her blog, it's http://sherryforthehouse.blogspot.com/

Military Training

The Chaplain's Assistants in the 1st Armor Training Brigade had the opportunity to go through the Tank Driving Simulator (TDS) here on Ft Knox, KY. This simulator is where the job training begins for those whose jobs will either be tankers, scouts, or tank mechanics. It was a great experience to see- and feel what it's like functioning in a different soldiers occupation. As small as I am, I can't imagine being in that vehicle for days and sharing the closed space with 3 other individuals. We were in a tank simulator as well as a new stryker simulatore. Enjoy the pictures!

The Call

On Saturday, July 7, 2007, over 70,000 people gathered at LP Field / Titan Stadium in Nashville, TN for TheCall: Nashville, crying out to God in repentance and hunger for revival and justice in this nation. As you can see from these pictures, the stadium was packed.
People came not for a musical concert or a festival or to hear the biggest names in Christendom, but they came to the sound of Joel 2: "Blow the trumpet in Zion! Consecrate a fast! Call a sacred assembly." The Call brought together people from all across the nation to gather in a culture-influencing city to seek God in prayer and fasting. It was an experience I'm glad I didn't miss.

This is Lou Engle who has been organizing and spearheading these events.
He's had to of spent a lot of time in prayer to make events like these happen.
In the next year, TheCall will gather people to different cities around the nation and then converge again in Washington, DC for TheCall DC II in 08.08 (August 2008) believing that 1 million people, young and old alike, will gather to fast, pray and ask God for a historic visitation of epic proportions. I am so glad to say I was apart of this and was able to experience God in such an amazing way. THE CALL-NASHVILLE can be viewed on GodTV until August 6th. Here is a link to a portion if it. http://uk.god.tv/Publisher/Article.aspx?ID=1000017691 Psalm 24:3-4 3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD ? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false.

4th of July

Yesterday, as a nation, we celebrate our Independence Day. As individuals, we celebrate our dependency upon the King of all Kings. Freedom rings loud and strong for those of us who have previously been bound under the clutches of satan. Our freedom is a direct result from our dependency! We know the price and the value of our freedom; we understand, to the extent our minds can fathom, the sacrifice Jesus paid for us to have that freedom. We STAND in that authority.
The enemy of this age does not want any of us free. A child of God walking in that level of victory, power, and freedom is unstoppable. You and I must demand the freedom that Christ paid so dearly for, we must fight to the end for it. Otherwise, it is all a dream.A cry of FREEDOM is being clamored into the atmosphere, deafening the ears of the enemy and crushing the armies of darkness. Testimonies of miraculous salvation, deliverance and freedom are coming forth, and breaking the bonds of captivity and bondage from the oppressed. We STAND in that authority. Near one hundred, sons and daughters, stood in the place of freedom today. More and more are hearing the Lord speak regarding the authority of the Spirit in the area we occupy. Visions of angelic hosts continuing to surround Church Street bellow out long after we, as individuals, leave our battle stations. If only those driver and onlookers could see a glimpse into the spiritual realm, what sight would they see? A lingering peace remains and seems to increase the closer our journey draws to an end. With only two more days remaining in these twenty-one, our hearts swell with anticipation as to what the Lord is doing. Could it be as in the days of Daniel, where for twenty-one days a battle raged in the heavens, and Michael, the Archangel, was held back until breaking through the enemy on day twenty-one? Do it God! Break through the atmosphere. Rend the heavens as we rend our hearts before you. Answer our prayers, purify your bride, and end the reign of Jezebel in our land.
