The Eagle Has Landed

A flight was finally available to get from Charleston, SC to Europe. Spangdahlem, Germany, to be exact. On the flight was a spouse of an aviation mechanic who is assigned to the same unit that I was in 10 years ago. We were spending time remenicing about Illesheim Germany and Franco's! Franco's is a great Italian and German resteraunt out in Bad Wenseim. The owner, Franco, was, and still is, a great guy. Aparently many Soldiers still go there. Almost good enough to divert my plans to go to Dublin and Isle of Mann. Tempting...

What To Do I Ask You?

My military leave time begins today. Do I try and travel somewhere or do I just kick back and relax? There are so many options. Who knows. Keep reading to find out what I'm gonna do.

USS Arizona

The USS Arizona Memorial is the final resting place for many of the battleship's 1,177 crew members who lost their lives on December 7, 1941. The Memorial commemorates the site where World War II began for the United States. Here are some pictures from the tour I went on of the memorial. I hope to put a video of it that I took.

Hard Rock Cafe

Last night I went to Hard Rock Cafe. The couple in the picture with me have been my traveling buddies in Hawaii. He is retired from the Army. He, his wife, and I met up at Travis Air Force Base getting ready to fly into Hickam in Hawaii. We decide to share a room on the Navy Base to save money. So I pulled them along with me to the Luau and shark diving. Today we are going to try and go to the USS Arizona Memorial. They came to Hawaii because their son will be getting married on February 14th. The rest of their family will be coming in tomorrow. Thought it was a bit interesting (and they thought so as well) that neither their son or his fiance live in or are from Hawaii. It was decided to make their way out to Hawaii to get married.

Shark Dive

This mornig I went out to the North Shore and went shark diving. We got three miles off shore and got in a cage. There had to be about 30 sharks swimming around us. The kind of sharks that we were in the midst of were Galapaga Sharks. I wanted to purchase a video of me getting in the water and then the video that goes under the water with us. However, a shark got a hold of the camera, shook it around, and is now in operable. So, needless to say, I have no DVD to show you. You can enjoy these pictures though.

Embarking on an Adventure

Sleeping in the San Fransisco USO and terminals is another method of budgeting my finances.

Down Under?

If you read the last post, you may be wondering "What happened to Australia?" When I arrived at at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, There was only one seat going to Austraila. Guess what... that seat had my name written all over it. I won that seat. However, I gave the seat up to another soldier meating up with some buddies. There were personal reasons for me doing this. Reasons I wish not to mention here. I am in California and plan to leave tomorrow afternoon to get one step closer to my Australian destination.
For now, please enjoy these pictures I took today of the Grand Canyon.
