Below are some pictures of this event that occured this past Saturday evening at 1st Baptist Church in Brandenburg.

Nutcracker Ballett & Louisville Sluggar

My dad came into town on the 16th for the weekend. We were able to celebrate Christmas together, which was a blessing. During this trip, we went to see the Louisville Ballet's presentation of the Nutcracker. Getting tickets for this ballet was my Christmas present to him. It was a top notch performance. My dad said he had never seen it before. I'd show pictures of this if I could. However, taking pictures at the event was prohibitted. After the performance, we went to the Louisville Sluggar Musseum. There we took the factory tour. On the tour they showed the process from start to finish on how the bats are made. On Sunday we had the Christmas Battle Cross Service (see that post on this Blog). All in all, I think we had a great time.

KY State Fair

August 16-26, 2007 was the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville at Kentucky Kingdom/ 6 Flags over KY. Throughout the week of the fair were free concerts bringing out the best in pop, soul, rock, country and Christian music in Cardinal Stadium. Artist like Alice Cooper, Oak Ridge Boys, Gary Allen, Black Shelton, and Tracy Lawerence were all there. All that had to be paid was entering the fairgrounds and parking. I went Monday, August 20th to see MercyMe opened up by Tree63.
I also went Friday, August 24 Switchfoot opened by special guest Emerson Hart. On Monday night I went alone, but on Friday night I went with a couple of co-workers. We had a great time doing the Friday night thing... going out to eat and unwinding from work and then going to enjoy a concert.
Overall, a nice experience.

Steel Cross Service

The first Sunday of each month the four Protestant Services are cancelled as well as the Lutheran Service. Are these soldiers in training being denyed they're right to worship? No! Not at all. They all go to Olive Theatre for what is called the Steel Cross Service. The goal of Steel Cross Chapel is to: Inculcate Army Values/1ATB Mission into the service by partnering with local community churches and bands, leveraging technology to connect with the Millennial and Generation Y Soldier by presenting relevant and Biblical messages. In April, the band that came for the Steel Cross Service was called "Giants of Silence." They are an alternative christian rock band (pictured below). Their style of music was great in reaching this younger generation coming into the military today. In the fourth picture, is CH Watters, our BDE Chaplain, inviting the soldiers to look inward to see where they are in their own walks with Christ.
We've also had Debbie Robins come who was the fourth in a series of bands to visit 1ATB and play for the Soldiers in Training (SIT). Debbie Robbins is a professional singer who has performed for Soldiers attending Operation Appreciation. She lives in and attends a local church in Louisville. Her concert proved to be of the highest quality. More information about her can be found at http://debbierobbins.net/ Debbie Robbins spoke to and kept the attention of Millennial Generation Soldiers. The SITs were overwhelmingly positive in their support of the presentation. Debbie has a unique way of melding together Worship with military themes. Her video presentation “Letters from the War” struck a powerful note with the attending Soldiers. Comments from the packed out Olive Theater were extremely positive.
Other groups include "Prdigal Praise," Youth Choir and Drama Team from First Baptist Church of Maldraugh, "Even Me" from Dryridge, and Dave Roever.
